Romani Translations for the Tuke.TV Online Television

The project focuses on supporting the effective implementation of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages in the Czech Republic.

Romodrom o.p.s. together with its partner, Roma online television Tuke.TV is preparing broadcasting on the Tuke.TV YouTube channel in 2020. Starting with 2020, Roma people not only in the Czech Republic will are able to watch two shows which we help create and shoot – the Amare Lavutara music magazine and the Vaření s Maruškou (Cooking with Maruška) cooking “show”. Both shows are shot partly in Czech and partly in Romani language with subtitles. Both shows are made in an entertaining and relaxed manner which will allow them to impact a broad target group audience.

The project´s main goal is to ensure the strengthening of Romani as a full language which is basically absent nowadays in media and is of key importance for the ethno-emancipatory process of the Roma minority in the Czech Republic as well as for building understanding and increasing tolerance between the Roma and the majority society.

The Tuke.TV online television´s activities have been prepared by Romodrom o.p.s. together with its partner Tuke.TV, z.s. since 2018 when a Study on the Feasibility of the Intention to Operate an Online Audiovisual Medium was conducted.
The selected formats and topics were selected based on a media survey among representatives of the Roma population in the Czech Republic conducted by Romodrom, o.p.s in 8 Czech regions with more than 500 respondents, and which became the first survey of its kind in the country.

 

The Romani Translations for the Tuke.TV Online Television project is being implemented from 1.1.2020 to 31.12.2020.
