The Path to Education – Central Bohemian Region

The goal of The Path to Education project is to contribute to improving the situation of socially disadvantaged Roma children from Slaný (Central Bohemian Region) in terms of improving their starting position within the main educational stream – increasing and maintaining the children´s school success rate.

The social inclusion and future school success rate of the children will be supported not only through direct pedagogic work within the children´s school preparation (in the form of tutoring), but also by implementing good quality leisure time activities and engaging the parents in the children´s development process as well as strengthening the functional cooperation between Romodrom o.p.s., the primary school in Politických věznů 777, the primary school in Komenský Square 618, the primary school in Rabasova 831 and the special primary school in Palackého 570, the town of Slaný and other participating subjects (gradient pedagogic-psychological counselling centre, local interest organizations and the like).

Supported by a grant from Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway as part of EHP funds. The “Fund for Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organization” programme, which is financed by 2009-2014 EHP funds, focuses on supporting non-governmental non-profit organizations promoting public interest. The programme´s main goal is to support the development of civic society and increase the contribution to social justice, democracy, and sustainable development. The programme specifically focuses on supporting democracy, human rights, and gender equality, and on strengthening the capacities of non-governmental non-profit organizations as well as on the specific needs of minority groups, including the Roma. The programme also focuses on environmental protection and climate change.
