Children's Clubs Romodrom Regions
The Children's Clubs Romodrom Regions project, reg. no. CZ.03.1.51/0.0/0.0/15_013/0000193, was financed by the European Social Fund through the Operational Program Employment.
The children's clubs operated during two school years - 2016/2017 and 2017/2018. During the summer and spring holidays in 2016 and 2017, 42 day camps were held in the premises of the children's clubs. The operation of the clubs during the school year and holidays was complemented by activities focused on artistic, physical, culinary, self-awareness, therapeutic, and other topics. In our clubs, children could spend their time meaningfully, play, and make new friends. The use of children's club services was free for children. The project aimed to support employment and reduce gender disparities in the labor market by providing childcare for children attending the first grade of primary school. The children's clubs were open to all first-grade children without distinction, but we assumed that parents of children in socially disadvantaged conditions would primarily use the clubs.
Conditions for admission to the Children's Club were:
- properly completed application and contract for the provision of club services,
- confirmation from the primary school that the child is a student of the 1st grade of the school,
- confirmation of the status of the supported person (legal representative of the child/parent) in the labor market.
Locations of service provision:
Romodrom o.p.s. operated 3 children's clubs for first-grade elementary school children in the following locations:
- Hradčany near Prostějov (since 2017, the club operated in Prostějov),
- Slaný,
- Nymburk.
Project implementation evaluation:
The project Children's Clubs Romodrom Regions (CZ.03.1.51/0.0/0.0/15_013/0000193) took place from 1st July 2016 to 30th June 2018.
During the project, on working days, summer, and spring holidays, we offered parents the opportunity to have their children looked after while they needed to work, study, requalify, or seek employment. Their children could then use the clubs, equipped with sports and art supplies, as places to spend time until their parents picked them up or they went to extracurricular activities. Children could also participate in various leisure activities. A condition for placing a child in a children's club or day camp was providing confirmation of the parents' connection to the labor market. By providing childcare on school days and during spring and summer holidays, we supported a total of 78 parents, who gained the opportunity to improve their chances of employment. They could attend work, engage in business, requalify, study, and seek employment through the labor office. The interest in the service was significant throughout the project implementation, as this service was a great help for the target group, especially for families with multiple young school-age children or single parents. We implemented the project in the cities of Prostějov, Slaný, and Nymburk.
