The conference will focus on the key issue of accessible and dignified housing for refugees in the Czech Republic. The aim is not only to address the problems of a specific group, but to show that the challenges refugees face in finding housing reveal broader systemic weaknesses that affect the entire society.
The meeting will bring together representatives from the non-profit sector, public administration, research institutions, real estate market, foreign experts, and most importantly, individuals with direct experience. Together, we will seek answers to the question of how to create a functional housing system that does not leave anyone on the margins.
Conference Program
Why is the current system failing? We will present hard data, system errors, and legal gaps. We will show who is "falling through the cracks" and what are the main barriers to access to housing.
Moderated discussion that gives a specific face to the issues from the first block. We will present examples where the system has failed, but also where it works. We will define what we want to try doing differently in the Czech Republic.
What can we learn from foreign partners? We will introduce functional approaches to integrating refugees into housing from abroad and map out what is needed for sustainable cooperation across sectors.
We will focus on the future outlook. How to maintain functional approaches? How to motivate the private sector and what to do for the long-term sustainability of solutions? The discussion will be supplemented by an interactive part with the audience.
