Project Social Services Romodrom Brno, reg. no.: CZ.03.2.60/0.0/0.0/16_052/0007769 was financed by the European Social Fund, through the Operational Program Employment.

The aim of the provided social service was to eliminate or mitigate the impacts of social exclusion on the lives of social service users (people socially excluded or at risk of social exclusion). The social service provided necessary assistance and support to these individuals in addressing their problems in a field form.

Places of provision:

  • ORP Brno, especially: parts of the statutory city of Brno:
  • Brno - center, e.g. streets Koliště, Dornych, Vlhká, and others
  • Brno - north, e.g. streets Cejl, Bratislavská, Francouzská, and others

Who the service was intended for:

  • individuals over 18 years of age,
  • individuals living in socially excluded communities in the area of the city of Brno
  • members of national minorities.

What the service offered:

It was a registered social service according to § 69 of Act No. 108/2006 Coll. on social services, which was provided in the above-mentioned area of the Brno District Office. Workers in the natural environment of service users offered basic support and active assistance in the following areas through field social work:

  • basic counseling: providing necessary information leading to the resolution of the user's unfavorable social situation - serves both to orientate in the problem that reduces the quality of their life, and to orientate in the possibilities of help in solving their problem,
  • accompaniment to institutions: based on the user's request, the service user was accompanied by a worker in dealings with institutions and supported them in independent actions,
  • assistance in handling routine matters: assistance in drafting various types of applications (processing material deprivation benefits, state social support, social housing, etc.), processing documents, understanding official correspondence, filling out forms, assistance in drafting appeals against decisions, etc.,
  • referral to institutions for follow-up care: the service user was informed about institutions for follow-up care, i.e., self-government bodies and organizations providing specialized social assistance, with the aim of successfully resolving the service user's problem - workers could help the service user arrange a meeting with the relevant institution based on their request, or accompany the service user to this institution,
  • working with the service user in their natural environment: working with the service user in the environment where they normally operate,
  • social work: individual work with the service user focused on their education - on the topic being addressed, strengthening competencies, independence, and reducing dependence on social services overall.

The activities we provided aimed to improve the orientation of users in the social environment, reduce their concerns when dealing with authorities and institutions, and acquaint them with and understand their rights, entitlements, and obligations. We helped users assert their rights, legitimate interests, and handle personal matters (e.g. dealing with authorities, filling out forms, negotiating with institutions, processing benefits, assistance in finding housing and work). We provided activities supporting the social inclusion of individuals. In the field of finance, we assisted with setting up a balanced household budget, preventing and deepening indebtedness. In the area of employment, we offered consultations on job opportunities and offers based on users' possibilities.Principles of provision:

  • the service was provided to users free of charge,
  • respecting the applicant or user as a unique being with unique abilities and skills,
  • respecting the user's right to privacy,
  • discretion - maintaining the confidentiality of information,
  • adherence to the principles of personal data protection for users who use the service with disclosed identity,
  • the user's right to decide whether to use the service anonymously or with disclosed identity,
  • a partnership approach to the user on one side, strengthening their independence on the other,
  • activating the user to undergo discomfort and solve problems that reduce the quality of the user's life - mainly providing specialized services in such a way as to increase the user's chances of solving their problem, but not solving problems for the user,
  • the worker does not take sides when dealing with users, applies equal treatment to users,
  • all employees meet the professional qualifications according to Act No. 108/2006 Coll., on social services, and continuously educate themselves.
The Social Service Project Romodrom Brno was implemented from 1. 1. 2018 to 31. 03. 2021.
