Education Journey - Central Bohemian Region
The aim of the project On the Path to Education, implemented in 2015, was to contribute to a positive change in the situation of socially disadvantaged Romani children from the village of Slaný (Central Bohemian Region), in terms of improving the starting position of these children within the mainstream education system - increasing and maintaining the academic success of children.
Social inclusion and the future academic success of children were strengthened not only through direct pedagogical work within the school preparation of children (in the form of tutoring), but also by introducing quality extracurricular activities and actively involving parents in the processes of children's development, as well as strengthening functional cooperation between Romodrom o.p.s., Primary Schools in Politických věznů Street 777, Komenského Square 618, Rabasově Street 831, and Special Primary School in Palackého Street 570, the town of Slaný, and other participating entities (local pedagogical-psychological counseling center, local interest organizations, etc.).
Supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway under the EEA Grants. The "Fund for Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organizations" program, which was funded by the EEA Grants 2009-2014, focused on supporting non-governmental non-profit organizations advocating for the public interest. The main goal of the program was to strengthen civil society development and increase contributions to social justice, democracy, and sustainable development. The program specifically aimed to support democracy, human rights, and gender equality, as well as to strengthen the capacities of non-governmental non-profit organizations, addressing the specific needs of minority groups including Roma. The program also addressed environmental protection and the issue of climate change.
