Grant provider name: Ministry of Justice
Grant title: Program to support work with families of convicts serving a prison sentence
Service: Field programs - Prison program

The project aimed to support contact between a parent in the execution of a custodial sentence (VTOS) and their child. The goal was to maintain, strengthen, or re-establish family relationships despite the separation. Parent-child contact was facilitated logistically within social work, in collaboration with other professionals. Everything was conducted with the assistance of a psychotherapist who provided expert support to the child and the family.
Goals of the project:
Maintain or restore the relationship between the child and the parent in VTOS:
- Facilitating personal meetings between the parent and the child;
- Ensuring transportation, accompaniment, and other practical conditions for the visit;
- Supporting the establishment or strengthening of communication between the child and the parent.
Support the psychological development of the child and reduce the negative impacts of separation:
- Professional work of a child psychologist with the child;
- Psychological support for the child during visits to the parent in prison;
- Strengthening the family environment before the parent's return from VTOS and afterwards.
