Prevention of housing loss for vulnerable refugees from Ukraine (IOM)

The aim of the project "Preventing loss of housing in vulnerable refugees from Ukraine" was to prevent housing loss and help people in housing distress. The project was based on the concept of Housing First, which emphasizes that stable housing is the foundation for further support and integration. Therefore, we focus on securing and maintaining housing for our clients.

The project was implemented from 1 September 2023 to 31 March 2024.

Who was the project intended for?

The project helped individuals and groups of people who are in the Czech Republic due to the war in Ukraine and are at risk of homelessness. It focused especially on vulnerable groups of refugees who are struggling with economic problems, low financial literacy, language barriers, or discrimination. Particularly vulnerable groups of people are:

  • children under 18 years of age,
  • students,
  • people over 65 years of age,
  • pregnant women,
  • people with disabilities.

What did the project offer?

Support was provided at two levels:

1.) Easily accessible consultations:
  • phone, online (chat), and email assistance through a call center.

2.) Mobile team:

  • personal assistance to refugees in need;
  • consultations and connections with local service providers such as accommodation providers, government institutions, and non-governmental organizations;
  • possibility of financial support from a humanitarian fund for the most vulnerable individuals.

The project helped people to obtain stable housing and prevent social exclusion. If you need help or more information, you can contact us.
