ROMApartment
The ROMApartment project took place from 1 November 2022 to 1 November 2024. It was funded through the European Union's Rights, Equality, and Citizenship program. The organization Romodrom, o.p.s., in cooperation with the partner organization Nová možnost, z.ú., was involved in its implementation.
Project goal:
The project focused on reducing discrimination and promoting equal opportunities in access to housing for individuals living in social exclusion or at risk of such exclusion. In addition to direct work with participants, the project focused on:
- fighting discrimination in access to housing;
- multiple discrimination (Roma youth, women, children, etc.);
- raising public awareness and breaking down stereotypes;
- supporting inclusive public services;
- collaborating with the private sector on solutions for affordable housing.
The project utilized a combination of targeted activities, including building clients' capacities, raising awareness, and changing the attitudes of stakeholders. It also included an information campaign highlighting inequalities in access to housing.

People living in inadequate accommodation
People living in uncertain accommodation

What the project offered:
- support for participants with acute housing needs;
- individual housing plan - creating a plan based on the participant's needs;
- intensive support - budget management, training in communication with landlords, orientation in the housing market;
- selection of suitable housing - based on financial possibilities, preferred locations, and other criteria;
- preparation for moving - arranging utilities, familiarization with house rules, planning the move;
- support after moving - regular visits, payment checks, resolving issues with landlords or neighbors;
- support in other areas - integration into the community, addressing loneliness, family relationships, debts, motivation for work activities.

The project helped not only individuals but also contributed to removing barriers in access to housing and building a fairer society.
