Project challenges:

Supporting Ukrainian refugees brings many challenges, including:
Variable situation of refugees and their needs
War trauma
Financial illiteracy
Language barrier - various Romani dialects, Ukrainian, Hungarian
Different cultural environment and customs
Access to healthcare - complications associated with registration
Accessibility issues
Illiteracy in the social or administrative field
Social workers often have to take care of ensuring the basic needs of refugees and at the same time cooperate with experts whose services are financially demanding. Who was the project intended for? It focused on Roma refugees from Ukraine. Thanks to this service, social workers improved the situation for at least 150 individuals over 24 months in various locations throughout the Czech Republic. What the project offered: - Mediation of expert assistance – lawyers, psychiatrists, doctors, and other specialists; - Help with individual needs that Roma refugees could not afford on their own (e.g., basic supplies, medication, hygiene products). Organizations involved in the project: The Diakonie project was organized by the UMCOR company, with Romodrom acting as a partner. Additionally, Romodrom collaborated with the DKH organization on another Diakonie project, which served as a means of co-financing this project.
